Body of Missing Man Discovered On Snowdon
The body of a missing man has been found on Yr Wyddfa in Eryri following a major search operation. North Wales Police confirmed the body of a man was discovered on the mountain on Tuesday afternoon, September 30. Read more here.
The force confirmed that the man has been formally identified as 27-year-old Kieran from the Worcestershire area, who was reported as missing in the Yr Wyddfa area on Monday, September 29.

Woman missing in Pontypridd
Mandy Thomas, 48, is missing from Pontypridd.
Mandy was last seen just after 3:50pm today on Tuesday September 30 in the area of Oak Street, Rhydyfelin.
She has been described by South Wales Police as “5 ft 5, of large build, with long dark hair, usually tied up in a bun. She was wearing a dark coloured hoodie and dark or grey bottoms.”
South Wales Police added: “If you have seen Mandy, or have any information which will help us to find her, please contact us quoting ref: 2500313369.”

People told to ‘avoid’ area of Penarth
Police officers are currently attending a disturbance on Plymouth Road, Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan.

The weather forecast for this evening
After a dry, fairly warm day for most of Wales today, there could be patches of rain for some areas in the evening, according to the Met Office.
Their forecast for tonight reads:
“The north and west coast could see some drizzle overnight, but for most it looks dry albeit quite cloudy. Where breaks develop it could turn chilly in some rural spots in the east with local fog patches forming. Minimum temperature 9 °C.”

Slow traffic in Cardiff
Slow traffic has been reported on A48 Western Avenue Westbound between A470 North Road (Gabalfa Interchange) and Cardiff Road / Palace Road (Llandaff Lights).
The current travel time is ten minutes.

Police car crash with suspected stolen vehicle shuts part of A465
Two men have been arrested after a police chase ended in a serious crash on a busy Valleys road. The Ebbw Vale exit slip road on the A465 Heads of the Valleys Road has been closed since the early hours of Tuesday morning due to the incident.
Gwent Police confirmed their officers were pursuing a suspected stolen car at around 2.20am. The car drove the wrong way down the dual carriageway when a collision occurred involving both vehicles. Full story here

People given Welsh flags ahead of Prime Minister’s speech
People attending the Labour Party conference have been given Welsh flags as they wait for Prime Minister Keir Starmer to deliver his speech.

Pedestrian hospitalised after collision
An elderly woman was hospitalised after a road traffic collision in Barry on Monday afternoon.
South Wales Police confirmed that the incident involved a car and a 78-year-old pedestrian at the Ffordd Y Mileniwm roundabout, near Morrisons in Barry.
The collision occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Monday, September 29.
The woman was taken to hospital. No further details about her condition have been released at this time.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said:
Arnaldo Martins, 53, from Barry, has been charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on October 16.
Enquiries are ongoing.”

Accident prompts “heavier” traffic
Traffic is reported to be “heavier” than usual following an accident in Flintshire. Restrictions and diversions have been reported on the A55 Eastbound from J35 A550 (Dobbs Hill) to J36 A5104 Mold Road (Warren Bank Interchange). Drivers urged to take caution and plan ahead if possible.

Gwent Police have confirmed that Old Crumlin Road near Pontypool has reopened. The road between Woodland Park and Robert Price had been closed, following an incident.

Huge change announced for Cardiff Half Marathon
Run 4 Wales has announced a huge change for its 2026 race after this year’s event sold out in a record-breaking 12 hours. The news comes just days before tens of thousands of runners will take to the streets of the capital for the 22nd edition of the race on Sunday, October 5
Due to “unprecedented growth in demand” they have announced they will replace the current first-come, first-served entry process with a ballot. The ballot will be similar to those seen in other big running events like the London Marathon and the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
It will be the first time the Cardiff Half has offered places through a ballot system. Full story here

Road closed due to ‘safety concern for pedestrians’
Old Crumlin Road near Pontypool is currently closed due to an ongoing incident. A spokeswoman for Gwent Police confirmed the road is closed due to two manhole covers being removed, causing a safety concern for pedestrian.

Appeal to help save Welsh place names
New plans have been launched to protect Wales’ linguistic heritage. The public are being asked to help safeguard Welsh language and historic place names that are currently missing from online maps through a brand new website.
The public are also being encouraged to contribute to online resources like Wikipedia by recording sound clips showing how place names should be pronounced and providing phonetic spellings. It’s hoped the new initiatives will also help people understand the rich stories behind local names.
Welsh language secretary Mark Drakeford said the new measures will ensure Welsh language place names “are protected for future generations.” Read more here

Gwent Police is asking the public to avoid Old Crumlin Road in Pontypool due to an ongoing incident.
A post from the force read:
Old Crumlin Road in Pontypool is currently closed between Woodland Park and Robert Price.

Armed police descend on Cardiff street and man arrested
Armed police descended on a Cardiff street as a man was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences. Shocked residents watched on as armed police were seen walking in and out of a house in Cardiff on Sunday afternoon.
Footage given to WalesOnline shows how officers from South Wales Police blocked off Ball Road in Llanrumney shortly before 3pm on Sunday while armed officers who arrived at the scene in unmarked vehicles with guns and protective gear searched a single dwelling.
South Wales Police confirmed the operation happened as part of an investigation linked to a man who was arrested for alleged firearms and drug offences. Full story here

Accident on Heads of the Valleys Road
A slip road on the A465 Heads Of The Valleys Road remains closed due to a collision. It has been shut since around 5am this morning, with Gwent Police asking the public to find alternative routes for their journey.
The westbound exit slip road is closed at the Ebbw Vale turn off. Traffic is coping well according to traffic monitoring service Inrix.

Second Day of Searches for Man Missing on Snowdon
Extensive searches for a man missing on Yr Wyddfa have entered a second day. Police are growing “increasingly concerned” for the welfare of Kieran, who was last seen shortly before 12pm on Monday on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in the Bwlch Glas area near the Pyg Track.
Searches continued into Monday night and it is understood they will start again this morning. The coastguard helicopter and the Llanberis Mountain Rescue team were all involved in the first day of searches. Full story here

Delays on rail services due to signalling issues
Rail passengers are facing delays of up to 45 minutes and some cancellations on Avanti West Coast and Transport for Wales between Chester and Llandudno Junction due to problems with the signals at Flint.

Two Indian restaurants in Wales have been named among the best in the UK. The annual Asian & Restaurant Awards, which took place in Manchester on Monday, September 25, saw two Welsh restaurants crowned as winners in their respective categories.
Sopna Tandoori in Caernarfon, Gwynedd became the winner in the ‘Asian Restaurant of the Year – Wales’ category, while Empire Indian Restaurant in Cardiff was named the ‘Asian Restaurant of the Year – South Wales’. Read more here
