Wales weather for Christmas Day

A yellow wind warning has been issued for parts of Wales on Thursday from 4am unbtil midnight. With gusts reaching up to 65mph, transport is expected to be delayed and power outages are possible.

The Met Office forecast for Wales on December 25 states:

Christmas Day will start quite cloudy again, but plenty of sunshine will develop during the day. It will remain blustery, with gales possible over hills. Feeling rather chilly. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Collision closes an A-road

Dyfed-Powys Police has warnes warnes drivers of a crash that has closed a road this evening. The A482 between Cwmann to Pumsaint is currently closed.

Teenager killed in stabbing abroad

A 13-year-old British boy has reportedly died after being stabbed in Portugal. The attacker who was the boy's mother's former partner has also died, according to police.

Authorities said they were alerted to what appeared to be a 'domestic violence situation'.

A statement said: "Both the alleged assailant and the minor presented several injuries caused by a bladed weapon but, despite vital signs still being detectable, death was declared at the scene moments later."

A470 closed after collision

The A470 is closed in both directions between Mallwyd and Aberangell after a collision this afternoon.

Weather warning issued for Wales on Christmas Day

A yellow weather warning has been issued across Wales as parts of the country are expected to have strong wind on Christmas Day. On Thursday parts of the country will have gusts of up to 65mph with the warning in place from 4am until midnight.

If you are planning on travelling to visit family and friends or heading out for yout turkey dinner, the Met Office has warned that this will potentially be disruption to transport as well as possible power outages.

Tonight's weather forecast

The Met Office has forecast the weather for Wales this evening.

It says: "Remaining dry this evening and overnight, with variable, often large amounts of cloud.

"A colder night than recent, with frost patches possible in some rural areas.

"Still rather windy, particularly in the west. Minimum temperature 0 °C."

Cyclist knocked off his bike by driver who fled the scene

A man was left with several broken bones in his arm after he was knocked off his bicycle by a car and left injured in the middle of a Swansea road. The driver left the scene and police are now investigating.

Ulugbek Meliev was travelling home on his bike after a Christmas shopping trip, when he was hit by the blue-coloured vehicle at Gors Avenue in Swansea on Sunday, December 21 at around 1.15pm.

Teen fatally stabbed in Portugal

A 13-year-old British boy has reportedly died after being stabbed in Portugal, in a shocking case that also claimed the life of the alleged attacker.

The Judicial Police launched an investigation following the deaths of the teenager - identified by local media as a British national - and the alleged perpetrator, who police say was his mother's former partner.

Health visitors preparing for strike action

Health visitors in one Welsh health authority are preparing for potential strike action after being denied thousands of pounds in pay they say they are rightfully owed due to incorrect job grading.

Unite the union has confirmed that a ballot for industrial action opened last week for its members working as health visitors at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB). The ballot will close on Monday, January 26, with strike action possible from February if members vote in favour.

Police rugby club appeal after man left with facial injuries

Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating an assault which happened at Milford Haven Rugby Club in Pembrokeshire.

The incident happened on the evening of Saturday, November 22, at around 6.30pm.

The victim suffered facial injuries.

Dad-to-be killed in crash just days before Christmas

Tributes have been paid to a “gentle and kind” father-to-be who died in a crash just days before Christmas.

Mathew Hardy, 34, was involved in a collision between a car and a truck near Porthmadog in Gwynedd on Saturday night (December 20).

Mathew, from Pwllheli, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Met Office predicts freezing temperatures to hit Wales within hours

Wales is set for a prolonged dry spell of weather this week, as many get set to head out and about to enjoy the Christmas celebrations.

The Met Office says from Christmas Eve until Sunday, December 28, there is no rain on the forecasts.

Some sunny spells are expected, but it will remain cold, with temperatures dropping as low as 0°C, however there's also no chance of snow it seems.

Former Scotland fly-half dies

Former Scotland fly-half Richard Cramb has died after a cancer battle at the age of 62.

The Scottish Rugby Union has announced he had passed away on Monday. During his career, the unassuming outside-half won four caps for his country.

Having made his debut in the inaugural World Cup in 1987, he landed a drop-goal in the 23-12 Five Nations win over France the following year. He would also tour Zimbabwe with Scotland that same year.

Appeal to find missing teen

Police are appealing for more information into the whereabouts of a missing 17-year-old boy who was last seen five days ago.

Cian from Canton, Cardiff was last seen on Thursday, December 18.

The teenager has links to Rumney and St Mellons in Cardiff. South Wales Police are asking for the public's help to find the 17-year-old.

£20,000 reward to find attackers that left man for dead

Crimestoppers is offering a £20,000 reward for information to find attackers who left a man for dead.

Leon James Adams, aged just 24, walked away from The Cottage pub on St Mary Street in Cardiff late on the evening of February 13, 2002. He had just finished a shift and was carrying more than £130 in cash when he left the pub.

At 5.16am the following morning - February 14, 2002 - police were called to Grangetown railway station after receiving a report of a man lying on the ground covered in blood. It was Mr Adams.

Strong winds warning

There's strong winds on A55 Britannia Bridge in both directions between junction nine A487 (Treborth) and junction eight A5 (Llanfair P.G.). The speed matrix sign is set to 30 mph.

The bridge remains open to all traffic but extra care is required.

The Met Office has forecast the weather for Wales today.

It says: "Christmas Eve will be dry and settled. The morning will get off to a cloudy start, but some sunny spells will develop during the day.

"Feeling colder than of late, with a brisk easterly breeze blowing, adding to the chill.

"Maximum temperature 5 °C."
