Thailand has suspended a US-brokered peace deal with Cambodia after a landmine blast injured two Thai soldiers along the disputed border. The move comes weeks after Donald Trump mediated the accord, hailed as a diplomatic breakthrough.
In Washington, a group of Democratic senators joined Republicans to pass a spending bill 60–40, ending a 40-day government shutdown and funding operations until January.
Trump has also issued sweeping pardons to 77 people, including Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, John Eastman, Mark Meadows, and Boris Epshteyn, accused of efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Breaking News Live: Thailand suspends peace deal with Cambodia after border landmine blast injures two soldiers
Thailand on Monday suspended the implementation of a US-brokered peace agreement with Cambodia after a landmine explosion injured two Thai soldiers near the border. The Royal Thai Army said the blast in Sisaket province left one soldier with a serious leg injury, while another suffered chest pain from the impact.
The peace deal, facilitated by US President Donald Trump, aimed to stabilise tensions following July’s deadly border clashes that killed at least 43 people and displaced more than 300,000 civilians on both sides.

Breaking News Live: Japan protests “extremely inappropriate” remarks by Chinese diplomat aimed at PM Takaichi
Japan said on Monday it lodged a complaint with China over “extremely inappropriate” remarks made by one of its diplomats directed at Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, which the United States described as threatening. The comment was posted on social media by China’s Consul General in Osaka after Takaichi told Japan’s parliament on Friday that a hypothetical Chinese attack on democratically governed Taiwan could force Tokyo to take military action in self-defence.
Takaichi described the eventuality as “a situation threatening Japan’s survival” in comments that followed a meeting with a Taiwanese representative at a regional summit in Seoul earlier this month that also angered Beijing.
On Saturday, Chinese diplomat Xue Jian shared an article in the Asahi newspaper referencing Takaichi’s remarks and wrote: “We have no choice but to cut off that dirty neck that has lunged at us without a moment’s hesitation. Are you ready?”

Clashes between rival jihadist factions in northeast Nigeria have claimed some 200 lives in the restive Lake Chad area, intelligence, militia, and jihadist sources told AFP Monday.
Fighting between Boko Haram and rival Islamic State West Africa (ISWAP) militants broke out in Dogon Chiku on the shores of Lake Chad on Sunday, the sources said.
Earlier this week, Islamist militants from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) attacked a military base in the remote town of Malam Fatori, near the border with Niger, injuring 14 troops. The assault, which involved heavy guns and rocket-propelled grenades, resulted in several attackers being killed and nine captured, military and local militia sources told AFP on Wednesday.
