Thousands of runners compete in Porthcawl 10k

Over 6,200 people took part in the Porthcawl 10k this morning, the largest ever turnout at the event. Natasha Wilson set a new course record in an impressive time of 33 minutes and five seconds, whilst Omar Ahmed was the fastest man. Natasha said: "It's so nice to be back in Wales. Last year I missed the whole year so I'm really happy to be back racing in front of the home crowd. This wasn’t as brutal as the Barry Island 10K although it was as windy, if not windier. "The atmosphere today was so good – Barry was good, but Porthcawl was even better. The Welsh crowds are always incredible and the amount of times I hear my name being called by people I don’t even know is really, really nice."

Wetherspoons implement 'price surge' at three Cardiff pubs for Oasis concerts

As Oasis fans attended their opening gigs in Cardiff, they voiced their discontent at the hiked prices at nearby Wetherspoons pubs, where drinks cost an additional £2. The company confirmed that a price surge had been implemented at three of its central Cardiff pubs. A statement read: "We can confirm that prices were increased in three of our Cardiff city centre pubs during the Oasis concert. "The police categorised it as an event day, which meant the pubs were required to have additional door supervisors. "Furthermore, the pubs had more staff on duty than usual for the concert.
